Rationale:
• 1930s – the launch of the Coughs and Sneezes campaign (a response to the Influenza pandemic)
• Campaigns as a way to fight absenteeism (National Archives, n.d.)
• Behavioural change – asking people to start using a handkerchief to end the spread of colds and flues by not spreading germs
Materials:
• Health promotion posters (1931-1961) * possibly up to 1974 (further visits)
• Most posters in the 1940s and the1950s
• TV adverts (1945, 1947, 1948)
