Abstract
The ageing population is growing, with the proportion of people over the age of 65 years expected to double over the next 50 years. Advancing age is strongly associated with hip fracture due to the combination of increased susceptibility to falls and osteoporosis. This chapter addresses the reasons and consequences of hip fracture in older people, and reviews contemporary rehabilitation strategies for elderly hip fracture patients.
