Abstract
Patron Driven Acquisition has seen a significant amount of expenditure by a large number of institutions. The short term benefit in terms of usage and student uptake has been seen but what about long term usage and the effect on the library collection? This session would investigate the long term usage of purchased PDA eBook titles. Are they long term resources or is interest only in the short term? Has the expenditure on PDA demonstrated its long term value? Is the long term usage comparable with professional selected eBooks? Analysing usage statistics can we see what type of PDA resources have continued usage and how this may affect future PDA investment? As well as looking at usage we can also investigate academic interest and acceptance of these resources via reading list data. How can PDA be developed in the future? How can this model help develop the library’s collection? Understanding the long term effects of PDA will help develop a more meaningful model of PDA delivery for your institution.
